Changes to patient Fees
As we all know, health services are under enormous pressure. Government funding does not reflect the true cost of providing services to our community, and staff are hard to find, get, and keep, especially in rural areas.
What might surprise you is that we are a charity, unlike many medical centres. This means that all the money we receive goes towards providing services for our community, and wherever possible, we provide those services for free.
During COVID, we didn’t change the prices we charged because everyone had other things to focus on—but unfortunately, the time has now come when we can no longer put off raising our fees.
We are also changing the way that we charge for services. Up to now, we have charged you the cost of the consultation plus the cost of the service. We are moving to an all-inclusive price to make it easier for you to know exactly what you will be charged.
You will see our new fees displayed in the waiting room and on our website. The new fees will apply from 9 September 2024.
Here are some ways in which you can make paying for your health services easier
Community Services Card
If you are eligible for a Community Services Card having one will reduce the cost of seeing the doctor and give you free pick up of medicines at the pharmacy. We can help by seeing if you may be eligible for a card (or details are available from Work and Income). We have forms available at the practice and can help you fill them out too.
Automatic Payment
Set up an automatic payment with your bank to pay something regularly. It’s easy to do. Paying as little as $2 per week can spread the cost of your bill and means you don’t need pay on the day. If you find you’ve paid us more than you need, we’ll just give you your money back. We can help by working out what your ideal payment amount should be based on how often you come to the doctor. Ask us for an AP form and help to complete it if needed.
Update your contact details
Make sure your contact details are up to date and have you thought about getting set up on the patient portal? We can help by sending you reminders if you have a bill to pay so that it doesn’t get too big. Did you know that you can also pay your bill though the patient portal as well as book appointments and prescriptions?

Have a private chat with us if you are worried about paying your bill. We don’t want you to miss out on healthcare. We can help by working with you to come up with a solution.
