Healing Arts Project

Pihanga Health is proud to have launched a “Healing Art” project featuring art from upcoming local artists from Tūrangi and the Southern Lakes community.

About us...

Our practice rests under the gaze of Pihanga Maunga, a taonga of Ngāti Tūwharetoa and Ngāti Tūrangitukua. Pīhanga is considered to be a living entity, an ancestor, with her own mana and mauri.

Our patient population is diverse and often requires outside-the-box, innovative thinking to deliver positive health outcomes. We have a broad range of expertise and skills within our team. They are passionate about providing excellent health care services and are committed to finding better ways to provide services to our patients.

As part of our commitment to training future health professionals, we contribute to the training of medical students who are either in their fourth, fifth or final year. They work under the supervision of our doctors or nursing team during their time at Pihanga Health.

Our Doctors

Our team of healthcare professionals, which includes doctors, nurses, medical care assistants, and allied specialist, is dedicated to putting you at the center of your care.

We collaborate through TEAMS, drawing on a diverse range of knowledge, experience, and cultural backgrounds to make sure that your health journey is effective and patient focused.

You can trust that your team will work tirelessly together to provide you and your whānau with the highest quality care.

Excellence in medical education

Pihanga Health is proud to play a vital role in the education of the next generation of healthcare professionals. Medical students gain invaluable hands-on experience under the guidance of our expert practitioners, immersing themselves in the art and science of healthcare.

Our Logo

Pihanga is shown in her role as mother…sheltering, nurturing, and embracing her family, the community. The vibrant variable green colour not only represents the beautiful bush cloak that adorns Pihanga, but also epitomises the sense of peace and wellbeing with which she envelops the community. The type face supports the feminine flowing element of the design.

The community is depicted as three interlinked koru, through the concept of trilogy in some of its many interpretations:

  • Ngā taha tinana (physical), hinengaro (intellectual), wairua (spiritual)

  • Cultural, social, economic

  • The ethnic mix of the community – Māori, Pākehā, other ethnicities

  • Iwi (tribe), hapū (sub-tribe), whānau (family)

  • Grandparent, parent, child

  • Father, mother, child

  • Whakapono (faith), tūmanako (hope), aroha (love)

Each aspect of the community is shown interconnected; sharing a relationship each with the other; each impacting on the other; each an integral part of the whole…each, in turn, sheltering, nurturing and embracing the other. The balance of the relationship between the different aspects of community constitutes its health and wellbeing.
